BUILDING ON OUR LEGACY CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Legacy Community Health Endowment, Inc. has launched Building on Our Legacy, a multi-year, $15 million capital campaign to finance a new flagship facility. The building will bring together three of Legacy’s clinic locations under one roof. This will allow the community to access our primary care health services, eye care, wellness services, pharmacy and new dental care all at one convenient location. Centrally located in the heart of Houston’s Montrose neighborhood, and just minutes from Downtown, Midtown and the Texas Medical Center, the four-story building will also have room to expand the scope of healthcare services provided.

A RICH HISTORY

Legacy Community Health Services has a rich history of responding to the needs of people in the community by providing healthcare, prevention and education services that meet the needs of the people. LEGACY TODAY

Legacy is currently the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Houston and provides low-cost or no-cost primary and specialized healthcare services to nearly 40,000 men, women and children each year. Our patients come from all walks of life, and their needs are very real and very personal. Legacy's focus is on the underserved citizens in our community - those who, without our services, would either go untreated or place additional strain on our city's overburdened hospital emergency rooms. OUR PEOPLE

Legacy employs a full-time staff of nearly 250 doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and support staff. We operate from five Houston area clinics and, for the convenience of our patients, we have an on-site Walgreens pharmacy at our main clinic location. While Legacy provides important and much-needed primary healthcare services to thousands of our underserved and uninsured neighbors each year, we are unique in that we also provide very specialized healthcare services to those who require more custom-tailored treatment.

OVERVIEW OF SERVICES

Legacy Community Health Services offers an array of healthcare services including general primary care (family practice); pediatric care, including childhood immunizations and sports physicals; maternity care; vision/eye care; psychiatry and counseling services; family planning services; nutrition counseling and other wellness services such as acupuncture, massage therapy and personal training at our on-site gym; and our newest service, dental care.

Some of the more specialized healthcare services we offer include HIV/AIDS care, GLBT healthcare, and care for persons with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension and asthma. Legacy also offers case management services and financial assistance (for prescriptions and insurance co-pays/premiums) for our HIV-positive patients and early disease intervention services such as prostate cancer and breast cancer screenings.

HEALTHCARE HOME

The most extraordinary aspect of Legacy is that we offer this incredible array of primary and specialized healthcare services at little or no cost to our patients. All services rendered are on a sliding-fee scale. This means that when someone comes to us for healthcare - even if they are uninsured, or even if they have no income - they receive the same quality of care and have access to the same services that all our patients enjoy. In addition to serving the uninsured, we accept Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and private health insurance plans.
